For years I tried to do it the cheap way, getting big mason jars and a low-price set of plastic containers that felt like they might break if I opened them too quickly. But the mishmash of items I had going on in my cabinets was making storage difficult. Nothing fit together. Mason jars don’t stack on top of each other, and the square and rectangular plastic containers I’d purchased didn’t fit well alongside the jars, or really even each other. My mishmash of glass and plastic, round and angled containers wasn’t pretty. They got in front of each other and crowded others out so I couldn’t see exactly what I had; and I wasn’t able to maximize space. Trying to squish two rounded mason jars next to some square ones on a small shelf probably took up about the same amount of space as leaving them in their original boxes would have. The Rubbermaid Brilliance pantry set is what got my pantry cabinets into shape. With 10 pieces of different shapes and sizes, the set is modular so I can stack them together in all kinds of formations. The lids are air-tight with latches and a rubber seal that seal together so well I can lift the container by the lid and it doesn’t come off. Now the Brilliance pantry set holds my baking supplies: flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, chocolate chips and more. The containers have large enough openings at the top that I can just scoop ingredients out, or take advantage of the slight lip at the top of the containers to pour ingredients onto my food scale. The clearness of the containers helps me to know exactly how much of an ingredient I have. For a while, I had about six extra bags of semi-sweet chocolate chips because I never knew how many I had. But with my chocolate chips visible in the pantry containers, I’ve stopped buying all the extra bags. Now there’s currently only one extra bag of chocolate chips in backstock. I’ve tried so many food storage sets, and I truly have no complaints about the Brilliance pantry set. I only wish I had more!
